Ed Monk & Ed Hagemann Designed Hull Extension
The owners of "Odyssey" wanted to improve on the original Ed Monk hull design to give the yacht a flatter running angle at cruising speeds, so what did they do, the contacted Ed Monk. Ed Monk and the renowned hydrodynamicist Ed Hagemann worked together to design a hull extension that would achieve the customer goal, which in part was to carry a dinghy on the transom and not have the yacht at cruising speeds with a high bow angle. In the end "Odyssey" offers a flatter running angle and it not much longer than your typical OA42 with a bolted on swim platform.
The work was completed on Lake Union at what is now Ocean Alexander Marines boatyard. The hull extension also offers considerable storage space.
